# Manage your CineFlow profile and account

> Update your display name, avatar, role, and username. Adjust appearance and layout preferences, change your email or password, and sign out.

Your profile and personalisation settings are accessible from any page. Changes you make here apply across all platforms, the web app, the desktop app, and the iOS app, so your name, photo, and preferences stay in sync wherever you work.

## Accessing settings

Click your avatar in the bottom of the left sidebar, or navigate directly to **Settings**. On mobile, tap the person icon in the bottom navigation. Settings are organised into tabs: **Profile**, **Personalisation**, **Notifications**, **Usage**, **Billing**, and **Collaborators**.

### Personal information

Your display name and role appear on comments, callsheets, and anywhere your profile is shown to collaborators.

    Navigate to **Settings** and select the **Profile** tab.

    Click the pencil icon in the **Personal information** section. Enter your display name and role, for example, Director, Producer, or 1st AC.

    Click **Save**. Your updated name and role appear immediately across the app.

### Profile photo

Your photo appears as a rounded avatar next to your name throughout CineFlow.

    In the **Personal information** card, hover over your current avatar. A camera icon appears.

  <Step title="Choose an image">
    Click the camera icon and select an image from your device.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Crop and save">
    Use the crop tool to frame your photo. Drag to reposition and use the zoom slider to adjust. Click **Save photo** when you're happy.

### Username

A username lets collaborators find and mention you without sharing your email address.

    Scroll down to the **Username** card on the Profile tab.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter a username">
    Click the pencil icon and type your preferred username. Usernames may contain lowercase letters, numbers, dots, hyphens, and underscores, and must be at least three characters long.

  <Step title="Claim it">
    Click **Claim username**. If the name is already taken, you'll be prompted to choose another.
  </Step>

<Note>
  Usernames are unique across all CineFlow accounts and display as `@username` wherever your profile appears.

## Personalisation settings

### Appearance

<Tabs>

    A bright interface regardless of your OS setting.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="Dark">
    A dark interface, popular for low-light on-set work.
  </Tab>

  <Tab title="System">
    Follows your device's appearance setting automatically, switching between light and dark as you move between environments.
  </Tab>

### Additional preferences

| Preference          | What it does                                                                                                  |
| ------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Reduced motion**  | Minimises animations throughout the interface.                                                                |
| **Compact density** | Tightens spacing for information-dense layouts, helpful on smaller screens or when reviewing long shot lists. |

### Default project views

Set the view each section opens in when you enter a project. You can override these per-project using **Save View** inside the project itself.

### Toolbar buttons

Choose how action buttons appear in toolbars. **Icon + Text** shows a label alongside each icon. **Icon only** gives a more compact toolbar.

### Sidebar workshop

The sidebar workshop lets you rearrange which icons appear in the sidebar for different contexts: **Dashboard**, **Project**, and **Shortcut** modes. Use the mode switcher at the top of the workshop canvas, then drag icons into your preferred order.

## Email and password

### Changing your email

    In the **Authentication** section at the bottom of the Profile tab, click **Edit** on the Email row.

  <Step title="Enter your new email address">
    Type the new address and click **Save**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Confirm the change">
    CineFlow sends a confirmation email to your new address. Click the link to complete the change.
  </Step>

<Note>
  Your email won't change until you click the confirmation link. Until then, you can still sign in with your existing email.
</Note>

### Changing your password

<Steps>
  <Step title="Click Change next to your password">
    In the **Authentication** section, click **Change** on the Password row.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Enter a new password">
    Type a new password, at least six characters, and confirm it.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Save">
    Click **Save**. Your password updates immediately and applies to all your sessions.
  </Step>

## Signing out

Scroll to the bottom of the **Authentication** section and click **Log out**. This ends all active sessions across every device where you're currently signed in.

<Warning>
  Logging out ends all active sessions immediately, including sessions on the desktop and iOS apps. You'll need to sign in again on each device.
