Opening the script workspace
From your project sidebar, select Script. The workspace loads with a full-width editor in the centre, a scene navigator on the left, and a toolbar across the top for AI, import, export, share, and versioning actions.Writing a script
Click anywhere in the editor and start typing. The editor supports standard screenplay formatting. As you add content, CineFlow automatically detects scene headings and populates the left-hand scene navigator so you can jump between scenes instantly.Navigating scenes
The left panel lists every scene heading in order. Click any scene in the panel to scroll the editor to that scene immediately. This is especially useful on long scripts where scrolling would be slow. You can collapse the scene navigator to give yourself a wider writing surface by clicking the panel toggle in the toolbar.AI-assisted script generation
CineFlow’s AI can help you develop your script in several ways:Generate from a brief
Generate from a brief
Paste or type a short production brief into the AI prompt field and click Generate. CineFlow produces a draft script based on your brief, which you can then edit freely.
Expand or rewrite a scene
Expand or rewrite a scene
Select one or more scenes in the navigator, open the AI panel, and choose Rewrite or Expand. The AI works only on the selected scenes, leaving the rest of your script untouched.
Smart import from notes
Smart import from notes
Paste unstructured notes or a treatment into the AI importer. CineFlow parses the text and converts it into properly formatted script scenes.
AI generation requires an internet connection and uses CineFlow’s cloud AI service. Generation time depends on the length of your brief and server load.
Importing a script
If you already have a script in another format, you can bring it into CineFlow without retyping.- Import from PDF
- Import from plain text
Upload your file
Choose a PDF from your computer. CineFlow extracts the text and converts it into editable script content.
Linking script scenes to shots
Once your shot list contains scenes, you can create a two-way link between a script scene and a shot list scene. In the scene navigator, click the link icon next to any scene. A dropdown shows the matching scenes from your shot list. Select the one you want to link. Linked scenes display a small indicator so you can see at a glance which script scenes have corresponding shots. This link is visible from the shot list side as well — toggling the script dock (Alt+\ on the Shot List page) lets you view the linked script scene while building shots.
Snapshots and version history
CineFlow automatically tracks your script history through snapshots. You can also create manual snapshots at any milestone in your writing process.Create a snapshot
Click Snapshots in the toolbar, then click Save snapshot. Optionally add a label such as First draft or After table read.
Browse snapshots
The Snapshots panel lists all saved versions in reverse chronological order. Click any snapshot to preview its content.
Exporting the script
To produce a shareable document, click Export in the toolbar. Choose your preferred format:- PDF — a formatted, print-ready screenplay document
- Plain text — unformatted text for use in other tools
PDF exports count against your plan’s monthly export allowance. See your plan details in Settings → Billing for current limits.
Sharing the script
You can share a read-only version of your script with anyone, even if they do not have a CineFlow account.Distribute the link
Copy the URL and send it to your collaborators. They can read the script in their browser without logging in.
